How to fix error dns_probe_finished_nxdomain on Windows OS


A common error most people encounter when using Google Chrome to browse the internet is dns_probe_finished_nxdomain. Although this error is common on Google Chrome, it can also occur on other browsers as well, but may be under a different name. When this error occurs, it usually prevents the browser from finding a connection with any website. As its name suggests, it simply means that a person is dealing with a DNS related error. The main purpose of DNS (domain name system or domain name server) is to break up and translate addresses. If you therefore get this error, it means that the error cannot be translated by the DNS.
From the word go, a computer always uses the DNS programmed into a router. The good thing, however, is that it is possible to change to a better and more secure public DNS. But if you do not know how to do that and this error occurs, there are many ways of fixing this error. It is worth mentioning that although there are many ways of fixing this error, this can be a disadvantage at times. One reason for this is that some of the methods for fixing the error might work and others might not. Therefore, the most effective solution is to keep trying until you fix the error.
Secondly, you may not be able to fix the dns_probe_finished_nxdomain error because of internet issues. As such, you may want to contact your internet service provider to determine whether they are having internet issues. But before you can jump to any conclusion, consider fixing the error by changing DNS address to the Google DNS. Changing DNS address is perhaps the easiest method of fixing the error. This method does not require advanced steps to fix the error since you are basically changing DNS address.
To change the DNS address on a Windows computer, go to Control Panel, click on Network and Internet then click on Network and Sharing Center. At left side of your screen on the Network and Sharing Center window, locate Change Adapter Settings and click on it. At this point, you will have to right click on any active Internet connection and the click Properties. A small window will appear and double click on the property Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4). Another window will open up and you should be able to click on the option Use the Following DNS Server Addresses.
To fix the dns_probe_finished_nxdomain error, the Preferred DNS Server address you should enter is 8.8.8.8 and the Alternate DNS Server address is 8.8.4.4. After entering these numbers, click on “OK” and then open your browser. Opening the browser will help you determine whether you have an internet connection. If not, contact your ISP for more troubleshooting.
